Summit Forum on Overseas Strategies for Technical Barriers and Enterprise Intellectual Property Rights
Between April 7 and 8, 2008, the conference “Summit Forum on Overseas Strategies for Technical Barriers and Enterprise Intellectual Property Rights”, jointly sponsored by Shanghai Tianwen (literally, World Famous)Lawyers Office, East China University of Political Science and Law and US Brinks Hofer Lawyers Office, and co-organized by Shanghai Municipal Intellectual Property Rights Bureau, was successfully convened at Shanghai International Conference Center.

Present at the conference were the life-tenure chief administrative judge of United States International Trade Commission, Mr.Judge Paul Luckern, vice presiding judge of the intellectual property rights tribunal of the Supreme Court of People’s Republic of China, Dr. Kong Xiangjun, US intellectual property rights commissioner from US embassy in China, Mr. Cohen, President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, professor Wu Handong, high-level managers from Huawei, Haixin, Haier, TCL and other famous Chinese enterprises, renowned IPR learners, professional lawyers and celebrities from other circles.

The conference, centered around the theme “Solution Mechanism and Plan for Technical Barriers and IPR Dispute Confronted by Chinese Enterprises in Overseas Affairs”, proceeded in the form of delivery of theme speeches and guest forum. Besides, a face-to-face dialogue with the US ITC judges and lawyers was carried out on the IPR subjects concerning all Chinese enterprises, such as the “the globalization strategy for enterprise IPR”, “China’ situation of IPR disputes involving foreign enterprises”, “What kinds of technical barriers will Chinese enterprises encounter in North America in respect of IPR?”, “Given such technical barriers, how is the management of IPR to be carried out?”, “How to efficiently evade the IPR technical barriers imposed by other countries?”, “How to settle the IPR disputes incurred by technical barriers?”, “How many IPR laws are there in USA?”, “How to prosecute and appear in court in USA?” and etc.
